The Regge region
The Regge Valley is beautiful, a piece of paradise on earth! The area is versatile and varied. It offers lush meadows, bordered by the typical Twente wooded banks. Untouched moorland, where the sheep and the dragonflies have plenty of space. Forests with walking or cycling paths, where you can see squirrels running, encounter pheasants or see deer grazing in the light of the setting sun. The beautiful moors, which bloom purple in August. The best example of this is Nationaal Park De Sallandse Heuvelrug near Nijverdal and Hellendoorn, but you can find heathland all over Twente.
The Regge area is an area where you can enjoy peace and quiet and nature, but there is also plenty to do for an active holiday. Twente is easy to discover by bicycle. Everywhere, bicycle paths have been laid out that lead through the most beautiful areas.
Active in the Reggestreek
There is a lot to do in the Regge area. You can play farmer's golf, take a covered wagon ride, go horseback riding, pick your own strawberries, swim, go 'klootschieten', canoeing, fishing, visit a children's farm or enjoy a good meal out. Every Monday and Saturday, the town of Rijssen has a large goods and vegetable market. Visitors come from far and wide to the Monday market, which is especially known for its large selection of fabrics. The cosy centre is a good place to shop. But Wierden also has a nice market in the centre of the village on Tuesdays. The International Fire Brigade Museum and the Rijssens Museum in castle de Oosterhof give a good impression of the history and old customs. In Enter, the zompen- en klompenmuseum is worth a visit.
In short, there is plenty to do in the Regge area but doing nothing and enjoying the peaceful and quiet nature can also be wonderful!
