Rijssen & Holten
Nestled between greenery and the Regge River, Rijssen and Holten each have their own charm. Rijssen is a lively town with a rich history and a cozy center. Holten, surrounded by nature, is best known for the Holterberg. Both are close by and easily accessible from Mölke. Fun fact: In 2012, the municipality of Rijssen-Holten was named the best hiking destination in the Netherlands. So grab your hiking boots—this is the perfect spot for a walking holiday!






Rijssen
Cycle or walk just 2 kilometers to the lively city center of Rijssen, where you’ll find plenty of shops, terraces, and restaurants. On Mondays, there’s a fabric market, and on Saturdays, a market filled with delicious local treats. During weekends and summer holidays, additional events take place, such as flea markets and summer fairs. Due to the Christian background of the local community, Sunday rest is honored here, meaning most restaurants and cafés are closed on Sundays.
Surrounding Rijssen, you’ll find the rural landscape of the Reggestreek, with historic farms and winding country roads—perfect for exploring by bike.

🏊 Swimming pools in Rijssen
The municipality of Rijssen-Holten has two swimming pools. Swimming pool De Koerbelt in Rijssen is a large pool complex with both indoor and outdoor pools. On sunny days, you can relax on the spacious sunbathing lawn. De Koerbelt is located just 5 km from Mölke.

The Rijssens Museum is housed in Havezate De Oosterhof (1334). This city museum offers fascinating insights into Rijssen’s rich history and its industrial heritage. The jute industry, for example, played a major role in the town’s development. The museum features exhibitions for all ages!
đźš’ Fire Brigade Museum
Rijssen is also home to the International Fire Brigade Museum, founded in 1996. This museum not only showcases the Dutch fire service but also displays firefighting equipment from around the world. A great experience for all ages!
Holten
Holten is located about 10 kilometers from Mölke. During the summer holidays, it transforms into a lively tourist village with plenty of activities. The biggest attraction in Holten is the Holterberg, part of the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. Vast heathlands, rolling landscapes, and beautiful walking and cycling trails make it a perfect place to unwind.
In Holten, you’ll also find the Holterberg Nature Museum, where you can learn all about the region’s flora and fauna. Need a break? There are several cafés and restaurants where you can enjoy a coffee or a delicious lunch with a view of nature.

🏊 Outdoor swimming pool
In Holten, you'll find Twenhaarsveld swimming pool, featuring two outdoor pools, a toddler pool, and diving boards. The shallow pools are separated from the deep ones, ensuring a safe environment for young children to play and swim. There’s also a large family waterslide for everyone to enjoy! Twenhaarsveld outdoor pool is located 9 km from Mölke.
🌿 Nature Diorama
The Nature Diorama on the Holterberg is one of the most beautiful nature museums in the Netherlands. It showcases animals from all over Europe, placed in habitats that resemble their original environments. Kids can enjoy various activities, including a scavenger hunt through the museum, craft workshops, and an outdoor adventure in Daantje Das’ forest.
🕊️ Canadian Cemetery
The Canadian Cemetery is a place of remembrance for the victims of World War II. It holds 1,934 graves, each with its own story. At the information center next to the cemetery, you can learn more about the historical events of that time. Both the cemetery and the center are free to visit.
🚲 The Holterberg
The Holterberg is part of the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park, a stunning hilly nature reserve just a short distance from our holiday park. It is one of the only places in the Netherlands, along with a part of the Veluwe, where the rare black grouse can still be found—maybe you’ll spot one! The famous Pieterpad hiking trail crosses the highest point of the Holterberg (59.5 meters above sea level). Just north of the Holterberg, you’ll find the Koningsbelt, which stands at 75.5 meters. Mölke is only a short bike ride away from this beautiful area.
